2018 - Crossrail station for Golborne?

2018 - Crossrail station for Golborne?

The possible development of a derelict corner of Golborne came a step closer last month when the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea agreed to underwrite the £33 million cost of building a new terminal for the western end of Crossrail in Golborne Ward’s Kensal area.

The gasworks site behind Sainsburys supermarket on Ladbroke Grove, some 67 acres, has been empty for many years now, despite a series of plans to develop it. But now the Borough believes that the siting of a new station there on London’s new Crossrail line, due to open in 2018, could provide the catalyst for a major development.

This development could see 2,500 homes, new community facilities and businesses. Travellers would be able to reach Canary Wharf from the new station in just 20 minutes. Development would also see Sainsburys building an entirely new store at the site.

Express your support, or indeed your opposition, to this plan by emailing Boris Johnson, Mayor of London and Philip Hammond MP, Secretary of State for Transport
