Golborne man completes 900-mile charity ride

Golborne’s Keith Stirling has just finished a sponsored bike ride from John O’Groats to Land’s End – and as you can see, he’s looking as fit as a fiddle after 900 miles and 20 days in the saddle.

Keith, who lives on the Wornington Green estate and is chair of the residents association there, has completed the trip 15 times since 1987. He’s ridden it in both directions, braving the voracious midges of the Scottish Highlands, punctures, rain and headwinds.

“I really enjoyed the ride this year,” says Keith, “although I must admit that the hills aren’t getting any easier as the years go by. I always love cycling through the Cairngorms, the Scottish Borders and Cornwall.”

Keith has ridden for a variety of charities over the years and in 2011 he was raising money for Age UK Kensington & Chelsea, (formerly Age Concern). So far, Keith has raised £1,040.

If you’re impressed by Keith’s feat and you’d like to support his chosen charity, it’s not too late to visit the JustGiving website and make a donation.
