Silver Sunday 2018

This year Silver Sunday falls on 7 October and will celebrate the contribution that older people make in the community with a two-week programme of activities and events from 2 to 13 October. Older residents can meet new people, try out new activities, have fun, stay active and involved in their communities and invite a relative, friend or carer to join them.

The programme includes a wide range of events with something for everyone. You can see the full programme here (PDF). As you’ll see, most of the events are completely free.

Here are a few of the things that are going on:

• Dance with the English National Ballet, and discovering what goes on behind the scenes
• Arts and crafts workshops at the Mosaic Rooms, Saatchi Gallery, Brompton Hospital and the Design Museum, and a drawing workshop at Holland Park School
• Learning about plants at the Chelsea Physic Garden
• Pampering at a health and well-being day at Al-Manaar, the Muslim Cultural Heritage Centre - try out a Pilates or acupuncture session, or treat yourself to a manicure or a massage
• Exploring 18 Stafford Terrace - a unique example of a late Victorian townhouse
• Singing at Leighton House - the former home and studio of the leading Victorian artist, Lord Leighton

And there’s lots more!
