Across the Street, Around the World

The fourth Across the Street, Around the World Festival is running during October and features a series of music, literature, visual art, film and dance events around Kensington and Chelsea.

In Your Own Words
Saturday 16th October and Saturday 23rd October, both 2 to 4pm
North Kensington Library, 108 Ladbroke Grove, W11 1PZ
Cost: Free
This poetry workshop for those aged from 12 to 16 is led by festival writer-in-residence, Jacob Sam-La Rose. Participants will explore the things that are most important to them through poetry and the spoken word. Jacob will provide the tools and inspiration to create and shape new poems, and bring them to life in performance.

Portobello Reloaded
Friday 22nd October, 7pm to 12 midnight
Inn on the Green, 3 to 5 Thorpe Close, W10 5XL
Cost: £5 or concessions £4 (before 10pm)
This event will celebrate North Kensington’s rich musical history from early calypso to the sounds of nu-jazz and broken beat in the 21st century.

Dance Dialect
Tuesday 19th October, 8 to 9.30pm (doors open 7.15pm)
The Tabernacle, Powis Square, W11 2AY
Cost: £8 or concessions £6
An evening of dance from around the world, featuring choreographers and dancers from stage and screen. The performances will include Afro contemporary, classical Asian and urban dance.
