Christmas Market and lights switch-on

A Christmas Market starts on Portobello Road from Sunday November 13th and a special switch-on ceremony for Portobello and Golborne Road Christmas lights is set for Sunday November 20th on the plaza where Tavistock Road meets Portobello.

Local resident, architect and television presenter George Clarke (Restoration Man, Ideal Home Show) will be switching the lights on at 5 pm on Sunday 20th November. Get there at 4 pm to enjoy live music and refreshments.

The Christmas Market will be open from 10 am to 4 pm each Sunday from 13th November to 18th December along the stretch of Portobello Road between Lancaster Road and Cambridge Gardens. The road will be closed to traffic and there will be approximately 40 market stalls where you can buy some of your Christmas gifts.

Local schools, community groups, musicians or local residents that would like to help organise carol singing or other Christmas-themed events at the market should drop into the Street Trading Office at 72 Tavistock Road, W11 1AN, call 020 7361 3001 or email street.trading@rbkc.gov.uk. Volunteers are also needed to help with the Christmas lights switch-on event.
