Former Earl Derby pub reprieved

An application to convert the former Earl Derby pub (most recently the Retro Bar) on the corner of Bosworth Road and Southern Row into eight flats has been turned down by Kensington and Chelsea Council.

Golborne Forum opposed this change of use on the grounds that the loss of another public house in Golborne would be detrimental to the community and to the character of the area. Such a loss would also have been contrary to the Council's policy on public houses.

In refusing the application, the Council stated that, "The loss of this public house to residential use would be detrimental to the character and sense of place of this area and would compromise the ability of residents to provide for their social and community needs."

Other reasons for the refusal included concerns about proposed roof extensions and the impact of the development on local infrastructure and highways.
