Golborne Deli
Golborne Deli has been serving breakfast and lunch to hungry locals and visitors since 2002, but it’s recently had a revamp. New owners George and Alex took over the business in 2011, and they’ve given the café a new, contemporary style that you might class as ‘Golborne chic’, and updated the menu.In the best internationalist traditions of Golborne, George is from Bulgaria and Alex is from Croatia. Alex, a London resident since 1995, has a background in the catering business, managing restaurants and bars, and working with chefs. Golborne Deli is a first business enterprise for both partners, who’ve known each other for 10 years.
“Before I had the business, I always enjoyed visiting Golborne Road” says Alex, “I’d describe it as the only real street left in West London. When we got the chance to take on Golborne Deli, we jumped at it.
“We spent six weeks decorating and furnishing the place and we’ve concentrated on a mismatched look because that reflects the street around us.
“Our aim was to create a comfortably relaxed ambience where you can hang out, have a coffee, or eat some really good food, a mixture of a deli and a diner. We’re also very keen on art which is why we have changing exhibitions of original artworks in the deli.
“The quality and freshness of our food, much of it sourced from Italy and Sicily, is really important to us, and we also believe in giving good value for money. I think we’ve succeeded with that because we have lots of regulars coming in now.”
For breakfast at Golborne Deli, you can tuck into everything from freshly baked croissants to toasted ciabatta with scrambled eggs and smoked salmon. Or choose a plate of freshly made porridge served with banana, strawberries and maple syrup, or blueberries and honey.
Lunch time treats include toasted ciabatta with buffalo mozzarella, Parma ham, sun-blushed tomatoes, olives and rocket, or goats cheese served on a bed of mixed leaves, grilled peppers, honey and mustard, and avocado. Round it off with a slice of homemade cake.
