White Knight Laundry plans
Kensal Developments LLP, the new owners of the site on Kensal Road formerly occupied by the
now closed White Knight Laundry have applied to demolish the building and replace it with student accommodation, a retail unit and office and studio space. The Golborne Forum has lodged an objection to the application.
Golborne Forum chair Susie Parsons said, "The redevelopment would contribute little to employment opportunities or community facilities in Golborne. Student flats, while making money for the developer, will not provide much needed affordable housing."
Much of the new building, partly four and partly five storeys, would consist of accommodation for 189 students. As well as Kensal Road , the building also gives on to Conlan Street and Middle Row. Rent levels have not yet been determined, but the cheapest studio flat at the Nido student accommodation building nearby on Kensal Road is £239 per week.
If you'd like to comment on the application you can do so online at the
Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea's website until June 14th.
