Local chef in national press
Local chef Mayouad Ali, whose gourmet French cooking you can try at La Sophia on Golborne Road, has been busy lately giving interviews to The Guardian and doing live cooking demonstrations at the prestigious Halal Food Festival at the London Excel Centre.
Describing the classic French and Mediterranean food served at La Sophia, The Guardian noted that, "starters include beef tartare, foie gras with brioche and spiced pear chutney, escargots with garlic and butter sauce; mains might be roasted sea bass with wild rice and chorizo, marinated grilled rabbit in a wholegrain mustard sauce, roast spiced rump of new season lamb with caramelised carrots". If that doesn't make you hungry, nothing will.
La Sophia has a special offer on now, so it's a great time to sample their cuisine. You can bring your own wine with no corkage charge from Sunday to Friday as long as you order the prix fixe menu, a snip at £25 for three courses. The free corkage also applies if you order three courses from the a la carte menu. And there's a special treat on Friday evenings – live jazz at no extra cost.
La Sophia is also launching a special Sunday lunch from Sunday October 6th – roast poussin or beef for £13.50, with all the trimmings.
