New chair for Golborne Forum

After eight years as chair of the Golborne Forum Board, Susie Parsons is stepping down and Roger Roberts is taking on the position. Both have been Forum members since the group was founded in April 2006. Susie will continue as an Associate Member of the Board.

Golborne Forum is for everyone living or working in Golborne and is overseen by a Board representing all sections of the local community. The Forum gives local people a voice on the big issues affecting their neighbourhood.

Susie Parsons said, "It has been the most amazing privilege and pleasure to chair the Golborne Forum for the past eight years. Golborne is a wonderful area, with its vibrant community life, tranquil Meanwhile Gardens, iconic Trellick Tower, great places to eat and shop and funky street market.

"My heart is still in Golborne and I do hope to continue working with the Forum for a long time to come, even though I have now moved just across the Borough boundary into Westminster.

"I am delighted that Roger has agreed to take on chairing the Forum. He has been a very staunch and committed member of the Forum Board since we began and also of its predecessor, the Golborne United SRB Board. He has done much of the work on our successful planning interventions and has represented the Forum on many occasions, including on the Market Streets Action Group."

Roger Roberts said, "I am very proud to be a part of The Golborne Forum and to be nominated as its new Chair. I have lived in Golborne and the local area for over 30 years – it is a great place to live and work.

"The Forum grew out of the committee which administered the Single Regeneration Budget over 10 years ago. That committee was chaired by Susie Parsons and brought together many of the people and organisations who continue to work to ensure that our voices are heard on a number of issues affecting our community.

"Susie was an important driving force behind our successes and I am delighted that she will continue to be a part of the Golborne Forum."
