Octavia charity shop opens on Golborne Road

Octavia Housing has opened a new charity shop at 104 Golborne Road, just next to the Golborne Deli. The housing organisation, named after Victorian social reformer and housing campaigner Octavia Hill, has been providing homes in west London for the last 150 years.

The new shop specialises in vintage clothing which it describes as pre-loved and collectable. It will fit in swimmingly with the thriving vintage clothes scene on Golborne including the likes of Emma Goldman, Rockins and Rellik.

Profits from the new charity shop will go to fund a range of community engagement and support services provided free to local people by Octavia.

Octavia relies heavily on volunteers to run its charity shops and community projects. Volunteers are essential both to Octavia's community work and its charity shops of which there are 18 in central and west London. Community services include training and confidence building for young people, befriending schemes and activities for older people.

All of Octavia's volunteers receive full training and an induction relevant to their role. Agreed travel and lunch expenses are paid and there are social events for volunteers throughout the year.

If you'd like to volunteer with Octavia, you can apply through its website
