New service from Open Age
Golborne based charity project Open Age has a new staff member, Christopher Smith (pictured). He is running the outreach and link support service which aims to prevent isolation, loneliness and associated ill health in the over-50s.
“I’m here to make sure that nothing prevents an older person from accessing the services on offer at Open Age and elsewhere in the community,” says Christopher. “My job is to help people who are vulnerable or isolated for whatever reason to find ways of enriching and improving their lives.”
“I’ll be offering home visits, one-to-one support and referral to other agencies like social services. Here at Open Age we offer a wide range of services like help with finding work, computer training and opportunities to socialise and I want to make sure that as many people as possible have access to those services.
Christopher, who previously worked for a housing association in Islington, continues, “We’re very keen to make sure people in the Golborne community get a chance to use the services on offer. What makes my job worthwhile is when I see people getting involved when previously they have been isolated. That’s what can really improve the quality of people’s lives.”
If you are over 50 you can find out more about how Christopher can help by calling him on 020 8964 1900 or emailing him.
