New art on Portobello Road
There’s a new open-air art exhibition on Portobello Road’s North Wall, between Oxford Gardens and Golborne Road. The exhibition features artists from the Atom Rooms and stretches for 100 metres. It will run until August.
The installation, which includes paintings and photography, forms part of the Council's Portobello Road Arts Project, a series of temporary public art commissions for the North Wall which links Portobello and Golborne markets.
The exhibition was originally mounted at the beginning of January, but was badly vandalised soon after. Now, it has been completely renewed.
Deputy Leader of the Council, Councillor Nick Paget-Brown, said, “The Council has never given into vandals and we are not going to start now. We are going to continue to showcase our emerging young artists and provide beauty and visual interest at every opportunity.”
