Portobello Wall Art

Locally based Liane Lang is the latest artist to display her work as part of the Portobello Road Arts Project. The project uses the long stretch of wall along Portobello Road, between Cambridge Gardens and Golborne Road, as an outdoor art gallery.

The 60-metre long vinyl print currently displayed there has 50 consecutive photos taken between sunrise and sunset on Valentine's Day, 2009. A dummy figure has been placed on top of the Spanish School wall, and the pictures show the reactions of passers-by.

The result is a series of accidental portraits, capturing policemen, residents, shoppers, council workers and tourists.

The exhibition runs until September 14th.
