Too big for the bin
One of the things that's less than delightful about Golborne is the distressing amount of fly-tipping. Of course in some cases, rubbish has been dumped by people from elsewhere. But all too often local people are the guilty parties. It's worth remembering that the penalties for fly-tipping are stiff. Offenders can be fined up to £2,500.
In fact, there are alternatives to fly-tipping. The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea runs a scheme called "Too big for the bin". Under the scheme, the council will pick up to as many as 10 items from a residential address. The cost is £32.60 but you could always team up with neighbours who also have bulky things to dispose of and split the costs. The service is free for those receiving housing and/or council tax benefit.
The council will pick up a variety of items but some are excluded including garden waste, car parts, paint, hazardous waste, or builder's waste. Find out more about it's Too big for the bin collections
