Acklam Road wildlife meadow
In the Summer 2007 issue of Golborne Life magazine we had an item about a new wildlife meadow that had just been planted on Acklam Road, opposite the Muslim Cultural Heritage Centre (MCHC). We said it would ‘be a riot of colour later in the summer.’
As the photo shows, we were right! Seeds planted in the meadow included traditional English wildflowers like cornflower, corn poppy, meadow buttercup, ox-eye, daisy, cowslip and musk mallow.
The meadow was created by the Royal; borough of Kensinfgton & Chelsea and MCHC as part of the North Kensington Environment Project. The site also incorporates an artwork, ‘Wonder Acklam’ by artist
Abu Jafar.
