Artist's impression of the second new block on the Wornington Green Estate, Hardy Mansions
Wornington Green News
Most of the first new block on the Wornington Green Estate, Orwell Mansions, is now complete. You can walk along Bonchurch Road, between Wornington Road and Portobello Road to see the apartment side of the block or down Munro Mews to see the town houses.
Construction is well under way on Hardy Mansions, next to Orwell, and all the private market flats have all been sold off-plan. Private buyers and tenants should be able to start moving into Hardy Mansions in about six months. Hardy Mansions will include shops on the ground floor.
Preparation work is underway on the third block of flats, the final part of Phase 1 of the Catalyst Housing's scheme for the demolition and rebuilding of the Wornington Green Estate.
The Catalyst offices have moved from 370 Portobello Road (the blue Portacabin) to 314b Ladbroke Grove in the row of shops next to Norman Butler House, near the Barlby Road roundabout. The portacabin is being dismantled in January and a new temporary green space will be created on the site.
