Athlone Gardens
Temporary park on Wornington Green from February to July 2014

News from Wornington Green

- Catalyst Housing, which is demolishing the Wornington Green Estate and building the new Portobello Square, has published plans for the new temporary Athlone Gardens park. Providing green public space equal to at least 50 percent of the original park during the redevelopment was a planning condition.

- Some moves into Orwell Mansions on Bonchurch Road have been delayed by power supply problems. UK Power Networks, the electricity suppliers for the area are currently working to rectify the situation. Once the block is fully occupied, the new section of Bonchurch Road will run from Portobello Road to Wornington Road.

- Maria Cunnea has joined Ardmore, the construction company working on Wornington Green, as resident liaison officer for the redevelopment. Maria is based onsite and deals with questions or complaints about Ardmore’s construction work. Call her on 07747 862 022 or email her at mcunnea@ardmoregroup.co.uk.

- Demolition of Faraday House is complete which means construction of the next block of new homes can start soon.

- Catalyst plan to build the new homes in Block 2 (facing Portobello Road) sooner than originally proposed by demolishing Lionel House and part of Telford House. Lionel House was handed over to Ardmore for demolition at the end of October and the part of Telford House for demolition will go to Ardmore in early January 2014.

- If you want to rent in the private sector, a two-room flat (one bedroom, one kitchen/living room) is currently available in Orwell Mansions for £395 per week from Benham & Reeves Residential Lettings.
