Susan Osbourne comes to Golborne

Golborne's thriving furnishings and interiors scene saw a new addition in April this year, Susan Osbourne Maison Française at 83 Golborne Road. Susan Osbourne (pictured) started out designing interiors for friends, then friends of friends, and this snowballed to the extent that she's now opened her own shop.

"When I saw that this property was vacant, I just knew it would be the right place for me. I've hung out in Golborne for many years and I love the street, so it's great to become a part of it. This area has so many interesting characters and there's a real community feeling on Golborne Road.

The imaginatively decorated shop sells everything from kitchen cabinets to candlesticks, and chandeliers to chaise longues. "All of our pieces are unique, one-offs we've found from a wide selection of sources," says Susan. "Our stock includes dining tables, antique mirrors and teasets, in fact items for every room in the home."

Susan also decorates retro and antique wooden furniture with vintage fabrics, both on the outside and in the interiors of cabinets and chests of drawers. Her business can also design and fit bespoke kitchens.

Susan is working with the design department at Kensington and Chelsea College on Wornington Road. "We agreed to take two students on a part-time basis to give them work experience. We've been showing them all aspects of how a small business like this works, and it's really been a great success," Susan says with obvious enthusiasm. "We definitely plan to carry on working with the college."
